Step-by-Step: How to Become a Member
Choose Your Membership Type
| Membership Category | Eligibility Criteria |
| Student Member | Enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate energy-related program |
| Associate Member (AIBOGP®) | Recent graduates or professionals with less than 3 years of industry experience |
| Certified Member (CIBOGP®) | Completed at least one IBOGP® certification exam and holds 3–5 years of experience |
| Chartered Member (CHIBOGP®) | Passed the Chartered exam; 5+ years of experience in mid-senior technical or management roles |
| Fellow (FIBOGP®) | 15+ years of demonstrated leadership in oil, gas, or energy transition fields |
| Corporate/Institutional Member | Organizations seeking to certify staff and collaborate with IBOGP® |
Gather Required Documents
You’ll need:
- A valid government-issued ID (passport or national ID)
- Your most recent CV/resume
- Educational certificates and transcripts (for Student/Associate)
- Professional certifications/licenses (for Certified/Chartered/Fellow)
- Proof of employment or reference letter (for Chartered/Fellow)
- A recent passport-sized photo
- [Optional] Membership recommendation form (for Fellow or Chartered upgrade)
Complete the Membership Application Form
The form will request:
- Personal and contact information
- Employment and education history
- Certification interests
- Membership category selection
- Upload documents
- Declaration and signature
Application Review (3–5 Business Days)
The IBOGP® Membership Committee will review your submission. You may be contacted for clarification or additional documents.
Once approved, you will receive:
- Official Welcome Letter
- Digital Membership ID
- Post-nominal Authorization
- Digital Badge & Credential Wallet Access
Access Your Member Portal
Once registered, log in to your secure IBOGP® Member Portal to:
- Update your profile
- Register for certification exams
- Download certificates
- Join live events and webinars
- Track CPD points and renewal dates

Submit and Pay Membership Fee
Once your application is completed:
Submit via Email: membership@IBOGP®.org
Upload on Portal: Secure Member Upload Page
Then proceed to pay the appropriate annual membership fee via:
- Credit/Debit Card
- PayPal
- Bank Wire Transfer (for institutional/corporate applicants)
